Allison Newman After many years of distance running, I decided that my body needed a way to flow with less impact. I knew that the quality of my life, physically and mentally, would always need to include exercise. Subsequently, I found a yoga class and began my practice. Yoga made sense to my body. It allowed me to be fit with a calmer sense. I became more aware of my body, its strengths and confines. I wanted to be able to share that with others who found their bodies needing a change of pace. I have been teaching yoga to adults since 2001. I give many thanks to all of the teachers who have influenced my practice as well as my instruction. I am also a certified yoga instructor for children and have been fortunate to share this with my two children Madelin and Caleb. I have a B.A. in psychology and elementary education from Clark University and a Master degree in Social Work from Boston University. |

Alexandra, RYT
Alexandra turned to yoga after years of long distance running left her injured more often than not. She soon discovered a new sense of strength and balance that resonated well beyond the studio walls. Yoga enriched her appreciation the good things in life and gave her the grace to face the challenges. So when her husband Dix convinced her to leave corporate life to pursue something she loved, yoga seemed the natural choice. Alexandra is certified by the Yoga Alliance and has completed programs with O2 Yoga’s Mimi Loureiro and Shakta Kaur Khalsa of Radiant Child. She uses a blend of yoga disciplines in her classes, creating a unique balance of sweat and spirit. Focusing on breath, alignment and awareness, she hopes to empower her students by giving them the tools to carve their own yogic path. Alexandra is grateful to be part of the Yoga Spot community. She continually gains insight from her students, fellow instructors and especially her newborn twins, Will & Lila. |
